My client wanted to celebrate their new condo with a rooftop terrace design. They requested a goth garden that would require minimal maintenance. It was a fun challenge to make this exposed space feel like an extension of the nearby forest while also achieving a goth aesthetic.
The lack of an outdoor water faucet required creative solutions to water the plants and provide water for wildlife. We opted for a combination of a downspout diverter and rain barrel, ollas in the raised beds, and a trough style water feature. The need for shade resulted in raised bed trellis posts doubling as mounts for a shade sail. The final design is a moody urban oasis perfect for enjoying a morning coffee or for hosting game night.
I really admire this client’s precision and excitement in building the design components from scratch and I can’t wait to see the finished product.
