The Value of Sustainable Design
Most simply, a sustainable design is one that supports life. My studio considers the ecological impact of materials, centers the long-term survival of the native ecosystem, and prioritizes water conservation and resource efficiency. These design choices improve quality of life for you and wildlife, lower expenses, and add utility back to your outdoor spaces.
No more yards that are just wasted space and extra labor! Thoughtful design can transform negatives - like flooding, erosion, access issues, privacy concerns, and noise pollution - into positives that benefit you and nature. Let’s maximize the garden as an extension of your home that you can actually enjoy!
Studio Services
-
I offer a one hour zoom or phone consultation to discuss your specific needs. I provide a questionnaire in advance of our meeting to maximize our time together. After the consultation, I email a summary that you can reference to accomplish your garden goals on your own.
-
My residential garden design package incorporates land and water analysis to lay the foundation for your bespoke design. I provide a concept plan based on our discussions and my site analysis and then we work together to refine your dream landscape. Once you approve the concept plan, I create a to-scale, 2D design plan for your space.
With this design package, you’ll also receive:
a plant reference guide
a planting list
installation order recommendations
annual garden management guide
animal species support guide
If desired, my designs can be eligible to apply for the National Wildlife Federation’s Certified Wildlife Habitat.
The timeline for this process depends on the scope of the project and client availability for meetings and concept approval. It may take a week to over a month to complete the design package.

FAQs
-
Yes! I’m able to provide designs remotely throughout the US.
-
As a design-only studio, I don’t handle procurement nor perform design installations for my clients.
-
I want my clients to have the flexibility to work with vendors of their choice or DIY so I don’t have preferred vendors. I provide scale-accurate designs that any crew can work with.
In terms of landscape maintenance, I strongly encourage clients to hire ISA certified arborists and master pruners to care for gardens.
-
Yes! My design plan is drawn to scale so other contractors should be able to work with my designs.
-
While your overall budget goal for your landscaping will influence the scope of my design, I do not provide a budget estimate for projects. There are too many variables that I’m not able to account for, such as your choice in hardscaping materials and decor elements, plant nursery pricing fluctuations, and install crew rates. However, I am conscious of budget restraints and I do provide installation staging recommendations so that you can space the project out over several years for better affordability.

While I can’t guarantee that a specific species will flock to your garden, we can definitely make it more inviting for them! By including water sources, host plants for their food (or for other creatures in their food chain), and shelter, we can encourage many species of pollinators and birds to visit our gardens. If there’s a specific species you want to attract to your garden, please let me know!

I love adding edible elements to garden designs! It can be a dedicated vegetable garden section or we can subtly incorporate crops, fruit trees, and/or shrubs into your garden plan.
