The Design Brief

My client wanted to optimize whimsy while also bringing privacy, entertaining space, edible landscaping, and native plants to the front yard of their newly purchased home. It also needed to be lower maintenance to appeal to potential future renters. They had started to convert the lawn, but asked for guidance on ways to build from their original idea.

My design includes fruit trees to screen the space from the road and lessen heat island effect, a retractable pergola with an art panel for privacy from the neighbors, and a fun walking path under a trellis tunnel arch that keeps crops out of reach of the dogs.

My client was a joy to work with and I am so impressed by their DIYing of this design.
